LAKESIDE KNICKKNACK(OS!!)Not For Sale)

Hosta `Lakeside Knickknack', pale purple, 27", July. SMALL. Mounds 8"high by 15-25"wide. Leaves 3 .5"long by 2.5"wide (6vp); of highly variable, STREAKED green and white with most often thick white centers and a green margin but YET other leaves from the same clump will be beautifully streaked! On with the registered "details"; smooth; ovate-shaped; average substance(better than thin). Back to really paying attention to your clump! Cull out any green eyes/offshoots. AND! even cut out some or all of those eyes that sport back to white centers and green margins! The IDEAL specimen is a STREAKED LEAF. I don't want to say with a few leaves having a pure white center because you will seem to always have those. Its tendency is to revert! BUT! Mary was able to produce the ideal specimen to register this as a "knickknack"! And that's just what it is! If you let it go without the attention then it'll get dust on it and like all your other "knickknacks" out to the yard sale or dumpster they go! (1994, M.Chastain. Seedling x H.`Hydon Sunset')
