Carex pensylvanica, thin leaved, clump forming sedge only getting 8-12" tall and arching. Dense clumps can be formed. Often used as a lawn substitute in dry sunny spots or shady areas. Can even form a soft uniform cover of green in dry, sandy wooded settings. Can be mowed as low as 2 inches. NATIVE to thickets and woods in eastern United States. Semi-evergreen. Very hardy zone4.
