MOURNING DOVE

Hosta `Mourning Dove', lavender, 16-20", July-August. MEDIUM. Mounds 12"high by 31"wide. Leaves 8" long by 4" wide(8vp); blue early, blue-green summer; yellow margin; lance-shaped. This is mesmerizing early on. A powdery-blue leaf beads up the water like wax. The scapes are blue as well and arch sideways. Thick substance. (H. Hansen, 2005. Registration indicates streaked form of H.`Ozaki Special' x H. `Blue Jay'. Mark Z.'s encyclopedia says a streaked H.`Mikawa-no-yuki' x H.`Blue Jay') Either way, the Blue Jay is a noticeable parent with the blue powder blue and the thick substance.
