APHRODITE

Hosta `Aphrodite', DOUBLE white, 18-34", August-September. LARGE. A tetraploid sport of the MOST famous hosta Hosta plantaginea `Grandiflora'. Touting the hosta worlds BIGGEST flower to date and THE MOST fragrant to date! This is a DOUBLE flowered form! The double flowers come and go, so the ideal GARDEN TOUR specimen is one that is cooperating and producing all double flowers! The flowers measure in length up to 6" long! and 3"wide! The 5th sense, SMELL, can be used from at least 20yds away! Very shiny leaves 11"long by 7-8"wide(9-11vp). A great producer of leaves and multiplies quite well, 3:1 at least? Shiny on top; shiny underside; smooth; deeply veined; ovate; rounded base. Flared, trumpet shape flower. They want to be held straight out but their size and weight make them lean to 45 degrees! I got some from Nico Reijnbeek Feb 2018 bare-root from Holland 25, but some are double some not! Bobby's are all DOUBLE and TRUE TO FORM.
