BOB OLSON(OS!)

Hosta `Bob Olson', purple, 31", July-August. MEDIUM. Dense mound of creamy white-margined foliage. Mounds 12"high by 36"wide with leaves 6"long by 4"wide(9vp); margin 3/4"wide, yellow early, changing to creamy white by summer; leaf blade ovate with a rounded base and slightly wavy margin. A selfed seedling of `Yellow Splash'.(1995 by Ralph(Herb)and Dorothy Benedict; named for Dr.Robert(Bob)Olson, former president of the American Hosta Society). We acquired our original plant in 2008, St.Louis, at the silent auction table. That's a "crazy" way to offer hosta! We're "maniacs". We stand next to the plant until we're literally pushed away because of the auction time limit. Whoever is left with the pen in hand usually gets the win! Me? I pulled out my OWN PEN at the last second and scribbled my INITIALS!! Got it! How could I not? after meeting the guy in "hostatality"!
