Helianthus decapetalus, yellow, 48-54", July-September. H.decapetalus can be distinguished from similar species by its unusual toothed leaves(sharply serrated edges) and its opposite leaves up to 4" long, widely lance-shaped.3" daisy flowers with black centers. Makes a bold display in bloom. This species can thrive in difficult wet shady sites along with a full sun placement. Found in open wetlands, woodland clearings and borders, partly shaded banks of rivers or streams, savannas, meadows, and thickets.
