Geum rivale, purple-pink, 12", May-August. Clump forming and an "avens" that is unusually adapted to boggy areas and thrives in wet/moisture meadows and often found in swamp areas. Native in North America along the east coast from British Columbia south to New Jersey, West Virginia, northern Illinois, Minnesota and in the mountains to New Mexico. Excellent in cool wet where many plants struggle to get themselves noticed. If plant rhizomes are boiled in water, the resulting liquid has a faint taste of chocolate. Full sun to part shade.
