Echinacea pallida var.simulata, pinkish-purple, 24-36", June-July. reflexed petals, separated, pronounced cone. Distinguished by coarse, hairy leaves and stems, and ESPECIALLY(how a botanist would identify it)the pollen color on the anthers! E.simulata is YELLOW! E.pallida is white. Very narrow, parallel-veined, toothless, dark green leaves(4-10"long!) and large. daisy-like flowers with drooping(reflexed) ray(petal) flowers, and spiny, flattened-knob-like, coppery-orange center cones. A favorite of Goldfinches. A NATIVE mainstay in the central United States. Grows in any garden soil to include! clay soils, dry soils, shallo-rocky soils. Deer RESISTANT!
