LEMON MINT

Monarda citriodora, 16-24" in bloom. Smooth lemon scented, mid-green leaves. leaves are narrowly lanceolate to oblong and about 2" long. They are awn tipped and remotely serrate to nearly entire margins. Low matting habit. Nice in containers where it can trail over the sides. Although hardy in zones 5-9 it is usually grown as an annual as it is dicideous and often short-lived(3-5yrs). Prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil. Culinary and medicinal. Used as a tea.
