BASIL AFRICAN BLUE

Ocimum killmanscharicum x Ocimum basilicum `Purpurescens', "African Blue Basil". A large, robust form of basil. Sometimes referred to as "tree basil" as it can top out at 3-4ft high and as wide! Medium-sized leaves are veined purple and carried along equally purple stems. Trunks become woody holding masses of branches and tons of leaves. Mild aroma and flavor. Perpetually flowering! A must in any herb garden and especially in container gardening as it can be brought indoors during the winter and survives near flawlessly as opposed to seed forms. This tolerates lower heat levels and shorter days the winter brings on. We've been able to keep plants going for over five years. This responds very well to pruning.
