Yellow, 54-72", July-August. Attractive silphium with lance shaped leaves in whorls of 3 or 4. Purplish stems with 2" sunflower-like flowers. Rich, well-drained soils. Very tough and adaptable. Occurs in wooded borders, shaded creek valleys, and dry open woods. The flowers follow the sun throughout the day! z5-8.
