Hosta `Touch of Class', lavender, 24", August. MEDIUM. Chemically! induced sport of `June' developed in 1995. Differs from its mamma plant, `June', by its THICKER leaves(if you can believe that!) and WIDER margin(this is true); mouns 14"high by 30"wide with leaves 8"long by 6"wide(12vp); leaf margin(2 1/4"wide and some!)deep blue-green margin, very blue in spring, blue-green during summer, changing to a shiny, dark green by fall; leaf center medium gold seasoning to chartreuse, sometimes I think more gold even?. Good display of flowers. Very good growth rate. I think a good specimen of `Touch of Class' is one without a thick center. This then sets it apart from `June'. If you're lucky enough to get a field grown stock then the difference is noticeable right away. Tissue culture stock looks like June for 2-3 years! But HEY!, they put a license on it! Like wearing a strait-jacket for the "friendship plant"? (1999, Hans Hansen, Shady Oaks Nursery) First offered by Tony Avent, Plant Delights Nursery in 2002. Our display plant comes from Tony during the convention of 2003.
