BASIL LEMON(Mrs.Burns)

Ocimum basilicum var. citriodora`Mrs Burns'. As compared to "regular" lemon basil, `Mrs. Burns' has larger leaves, more robust, and by far more intense LEMON FLAVOR! Also, technically/taxonomically, a different species(O.x citriodorum). A refreshing flavor in any dish where Basil is used. Lemon Basil pesto is "out of this world". It takes that "earthy" flavor of the entire noodle dish and puts a "lemon twist" to it and, wha-la. Even the kids are eating it! Mrs. Burns basil is named after one Janet Burns, an organic gardener in Carlsbad, New Mexico who introduced it in 1939. To further talk "botany", Mrs. Burns is a variety of 'Sweet basil"(O.basilicum). Lemon Basil(O.xcitriodorum), in contrast, is a hybrid between Sweet Basil and "Hoary Basil"(O.americanum), also known as "African Basil"(not to be confused with O.gratissimum). Got all that?
