lac.HERBSTONNE (gallon)

Rudbeckia laciniata `Herbstonne'(syn.R.`Autumn Sun'), yellow, 36-60", August-October. Large daisy flowers(3-4"across) with drooping yellow rays and elongated bright GREEN center cones. Toothed, bright green leaves(3-6"long). This is varyingly sold as a cultivar of either R.nitida or R.laciniata, however the majority of experts(the guys we call botonists)maintain that it is actually a hybrid between the two species. This is more upright and stiff than the species, and the flowers are more "elegant". A key trait from it being a R.laciniata hybrid is the prominent green cone! R.nitida carries a black cone. The color is also more of a lemon yellow(this trait from R.nitida)rather than a golden-yellow of the species(R.laciniata).
