  • Model: LAVAMU

Lavandula angustifolia `Munstead', lavender-blue, 15-20", July-September. Fragrant flowers and foliage. Most often grown as the most common form and one you will find at your local super market(Lowes, Home Depot!aarrgh). But hey, it's easy from seed and easy to grow! Yea, right you all say! "My lavender gets woody and sure isn't evergreen(grey-silver) like the pictures and lectures portray! "English Lavender" should be "sighted". That is well, drained, generally hot and dryier than moist and a good factor would be a little bit of air around it or them. If you ever see a lavender field the lavenders are in rows and the mounds are just about touching each other, therefore, when the winds blow and the chimes ring the full floral aroma can be sniffed and the "woody bases" tend to keep pushing growth. Can't go wrong with L.`Munstead'. When used in the kitchen they more likely use the flowers, you can use the leavs just mince 'em finely cause they have the oils in 'em, in cookies, cakes, scones, butters, spreads, desserts, ice creams. But, you'll be surpised how much you enjoy this mederiterannian flavor on some fish, poultry, pork-chops, and especially lamb. Sun, well-drained. zone 4(3)-10.
