Corepsis lanceolata, yellow, 15-28", June-August. Clump forming. Distinguished from C.grandiflora(its native cousin)by generally having un-lobed leaves and confined to the base of the clump. Leaf-less flowering stems as opposed to C.grandiflora that has lobed or cut leaves along its flowering stem. Appearance and growth habits are identical! Daisy flowers. Clumps are EVERGREEN. One of the most durable for the landscape and any landscape. Best in sun, but in its natural range thrives along woods edges and part-shade. Great for lousy soils, sandy, rocky. This species is well suited for meadow and restoration type plantings. Can re-seed to colonize. Mother plant is referred to as a "short-lived" perennial(3-5yrs)but leaves behind its legacy of seedlings and new plants for years to come. NATIVE. zone4-9 "Sand Tickseed" "Lanceleaf Tickseed" It's habit includes old fields, dry open woods, dry prairies, limestone glades, sandy banks, bluffs, railroad right-of-ways and roadsides. All along the eastern US and as far west as Wisconsin and east Texas. Butterfly magnet and other nectar seeking critters. Finches feed on the seeds.
