  • Model: ASCPUL

Asclepias incarnate ssp.pulchra, deep pink, 30-40", June-August. You can identify(or at least pretend you know)the difference from this and the species by wider leaves and the stems not being as dark pink-maroon. This will also be a bit more "bushy" in habit. NATIVE to the Carolinas & Georgia Common(rare in SC). Found in marshes, bogs, swamps, thickets, shores, in wet, moist and variable soils and sites. Leaves simple, lanceolate, to 1 1/2"wide, 4-6"long, opposite. Flowers are 1/4"broad, with 5 recurved petals and elevated central crown divided in 5 parts, and held in 4-20 umbels per plant. Butterfly magnet, butterfly Monarch catapillar food source, so much that they can often defoliate a single plant if by itself! NATIVE! z4-9. "Swamp Milkweed"
(our stock is from our incredible friend Chris Gussman, in our minds the world's smartest "plant tinkerer"!)
