u.ORANGE CRUSH

Kniphofia uvaria `Orange Crush', deep pumpkin orange, 30-50", June-August. A seedling selected by Joy Creek Nursery, Scapoose, OR. This one has been wanted by evryone that sees it when it blooms in our border. The flower spikes(pokers) measure upwards of 12"long! and as fat as 4" wdie! Teh fleshy strap leaves are equally larger and for clumps 2-3 feet wide. as many as a dozen spikes come up and more continue throughout the month. We finally dug some up to share. It's something we learned in school "shaaaring". Sun, normal soils. Ours is along a slight bank giving good winter drainage. Huge pokers! zone6 "Red Hot Poker"
