laevigata(species)

Hosta laevigata, narrow-petaled purple flowers, scapes up to 43", August-September. SMALL. Mounds 12" high by 29" wide. Leaves 8" long by 2 1/2" wide(4-5vp); dense mounds of wavy, shiny, dark green foliage, long narrow, lance-shaped, smooth-textured, good substance. This was Arthur Wrede's prime breeding p; ant for his Miss series of hybrids! Known to collectors since the early 1990s and offered for sale in the US by Hatfield Gardens in 1997. Native to the remote rocky islands near the coast of Korea in soil on talus slopes in some shade. This species differs from the species H.yingeri in having longer, narrower leaves with greater substance. (Schmid,1991. Described in the book The Genus Hosta).
