BEET SALAD

Hosta `Beet Salad', dark reddish-purple, 34-37", July-August. MEDIUM. Mounds 11"high by 22"wide. Leaves 6.50"long by 3.25"wide(5-6vp); light green with BRIGHT BEET RED petioles and vein of leaf margin also red!; moderately folded; ovate; tapered base. Bright red petioles and "red edged" margin?! The red margin holds until 1 July. The scapes are also DARK BEET RED! Bob used this one as a parent to come up with his first "red" leafed hosta `First Blush'. (Solberg,2009.{H.clausa normalis F2 seedling x (H.`Ogon Tsushima' x H.yingeri F2 seedling} I finally got it!! Whoo-hoo. Land of the Giants 8/24/17. I saw on the Hosta facebook page way back someone getting this mail order and taking a picture of it. It arrived pristine! and red as a beet! I must have been cooking beets that night and I also must have been "toying" with Bob's H.`First Blush' description! Thanks everyone! I'm actually growing beets, and vegetables again in my bottom houses like the old days!
