SECOND WIND

Hosta `Second Wind', lavender, 30", July-August. MEDIUM-LARGE. An all green sport of `Whirlwind'. This will do what it wants to but you can always have the final say. I guess depending where you plant it. Maybe MEDIUM, maybe LARGE. Her's what the ruler stick shows! Mounds 11-23"high! by 22-48"wide! What's the average? Try 18"high by 30"wide. Leaves 6-9 1/2"long by 4 1/2-7 1/2"wide. Let's go with 7"long by 5"wide.(8-11vp)(who's counting vein pairs?). The leaf though is THE SAME, know-watta-mean? Dark green, broadly ovate, slightly lobes at the base, DISTINCT TIP(the `Whirlwind' part), leaves slightly corrugated, great sunstance, and looking a little waxy. Great grower forming dense mounds.(1991, John Kulpa) I suppose if they start putting plants in Madame Tussauds this would be up there in the selection!
