MEREDITH FAITH(OSx10!!)

Hosta `Meredith Faith', lavender-purple, 20-22", July-August. SMALL-mediumish. Brought to the hosta worlds attention during the 2006 National Convention held here in Philly. Walter Cullerton's, originator/friend who lives 5 minutes away, garden of "green hosta" was on the tour schedule. Well, Mark Z. made no oversight of noticing any hosta not in his notebook. He measure Walter's speciamn and agreed it was different. 17"high by 44"wide!(I must have been under the influence of "faith" because it sure didn't look this pig!Ooops,there's that 2006 National Pig Roast mention, again)of slightly rippled foliage that emerges chartreuse, turning gold, then chartreuse-green by summers end; leaves 8.5"long by 4"wide(7vp); leaves narrowly ovate-shaped, shiny both on top and the underside, somewhat thin substance; and a tinge of red petioles. Walter thought he had something here! Named for his granddaughter. The transformation from spring thru flowering did make it unequal to any other known. Therefore a viable seedling of collector merit. Fast growth rate hence the cheap price, as long as we keep an "eye" on it(rather, on the farm)so stock is not lost in the trade.(NR,Walter Cullerton, then from Pineville, PA)My notes tell me Walter attributes it to a seedling of H.longipedes `Aurea'.
