  • Model: HOSSPP

Hosta `Spoon Paddle', lavender, 10", July. MINI. Mounds 3"high by 14"wide. Dark green leaves 1 1/2"long by 1"wide. This selection with shorter stems than the one listed under H.`Fiddle-e-dee'. This is original stock from Anita Kistler(West Chester,PA(1920-2010)from a pot she gave my dad(Clif Russell,1931-2011)at a Rock Garden meeting 2005. Low mounds, flat to the ground, 4-6"high maybe and 10"wide. Shorter stemmed as mentioned but still with the spoon-paddle shaped leaf. Leaves 1-2"long by 1"wide, oval, spoon-shaped or paddle-shaped(the kind of paddle the Amazon Indians use). Either selection is slowly slipping into extinction! We try and keep our alive and growing in pots but they do not multiply as much as they would if in the ground. Bill Meyer has a piece, of which he returned an eye in 2012 during a visit I made to him. His was a prime specimen and had multiplied enough to spare the return. Don Herzog(Mini Plant Kingdom)seemed to have the most stock. Jim's Hosta is the only known source to list it as of 2012. 3 1qts from Originator's Stock divided 12 June, 2020. 7 pots, 4 pots nu32 and 3 pots 1qt. TRUE! to FORM! Stem and a paddle shaped leaf! SUPER MINI and left alone MINI! ORIGINATOR STOCK photo!
