WIDE BRIM

Hosta `Wide Brim', lavender, 24", August. MEDIUM. Mounds 18"high by 45"wide of creamy yellow-margined foliage; 1" to 2" WIDE margin lightens to creamy white during the season; medium to dark green center; leaf size 8 1/2"long by 6"wide; broadly ovate-shaped, moderately corrugated, and wavy; good substance. Large flowers 2 1/8"long by 1 5/8"wide. This is one of those "can't go amiss" with when thinking or choosing a hosta. Great growth rate. Hold color well all season. The WIDE margin brings out the best in what a hosta looks like. Single, massing, bordering.(1979 Paul Aden)
