FOGGY BOTTOM(os!)

Hemerocallis `Foggy bottom', recurved grape-purple with light green to white throat radiating out onto petals and sepals, tiny white edge, 56", 6"flower, June-July. Extended bloom(16grs), diploid, dormant, 3 branches, 24 buds, unusual form/cascade. Sometime you never know the facts of life until you read why/where some gets a name for a plant. Here, Margo comes up with a neighborhood in DC literally called "Foggy Bottom". It's located in a low laying area near the Potomac River where the State Department sits. But her description also lends to the name in that the blooms are on tall, nicely branched scapes, and recurved to display the blending of FOG and DARKNESS(bottom).
