Muhlenbergia capillaris, glossy basal, finely narrow, dark green arching foliage topped by masses of flower panicles in vibrant pink or pink-red, drying to light buff. Mesmerizing clouds of pink. Blooms September to November to 36"high. Mounds can be as wide. Drought tolerant. Best in full sun or very light shade. NATIVE to mostly on sandy or rocky soils, in prairies, pine barrens, and openings in woodlands from Massachusetts, Indiana, Kansas, and south to Florida. Especially dramatic in mass plantings.
