DESCHAMPSIA flexuosa

Deschampsia flexuosa, densely tufted and similar to D.cespitosa but SMALLER in all its parts. Usually less than 24" tall. The inflorescences are billowy but not as dense. The spikelets are bronze to pale greenish yellow. Easy in all soils in part sun or shade. One of the few that grow well in dry woodland settings. A cool season grower flowering in June-July and persisting thru fall. NATIVE throughout United States mostly in drier habitats in sun or open woodlands. Very hardy zone4.
