ANDROPOGON gerardii

Andropogon gerardii, inflorescens opening red and turning darker, 5-8'(ft!), August-October. This is the tallest of the genus. Very upright and thickly clump forming. Clumps as wide as 3'(ft)at the base. Leaves 3/8"wide, blue-green in summer and turning a very attractive rich orange and copper-red in fall. Idea for screaning, naturalizing, meadow gardens, and prairie restorations. Grows in all soils. Very long lived grass. Occurs in moist and dry soils. Sun. NATIVE. Very hardy zone3.
