Dryopteris marginalis, medium sized fern with fronds to 12-18". Upright and slightly arching. This continues to set fronds giving it its full appearance as compared to leatherwood fern which is vase shaped and taller. Very durable fern for any site. Will tolerate sun and thrive in shade. The preferred fern for commercial sites and individual gardens. Evergreen. The fronds are tightly packed and pinnate(fine). Seen growing out of rocks even. NATIVE to eastern and northeast United States. Super hardy zone2
