Coreopsis verticillata, yellow, golden-yellow, 12-36", June-November. The species form is rhizomatous which forms dense, bushy clumps to 3ft wide. 1-2" yellow untoothed rays and yellow center disked daisies in mass and then sporadic until frost. The common name is quite obvious, "Whorled Coreopsis" as the word verticulate means whorled. The more common name we use, "Tickseed Coreopsis", comes from the resemblance of the seeds to ticks?.
