Phlox divaricata `Blue Moon', deep bluish-lavender, 12", April-May. A selection purportedly with larger, over-lapping flower heads. This means there's more flowers than the species that they bloom between 8-12" so you have a canopy of flowers within that distance so obviously you have to have overlapping flower heads because they are slightly different heights. Larger flowers in general, yes. The species petals are separated. P.`Blue Moon's petals are wider creating that fuller effect. A bluer color? Yes. There are bluer ones than others. And fragrance, yes. There are more fragrant one than others. P.`May Breeze' is in this category. All around P.div.`Blue Moon' is preferred for these main traits of our "Woodland Phlox". This was selected by Bill Cullina while he was the nursery manager at the New England Wildflower Society's garden in the Woods in Farmington, Massachusetts.
