Petasites japonicas `Variegatus', white, 10", MArch-April. ALERT! The height in the variety line is the height of the ball-like flower spud that show just above the soil level in spring!!! NOT THE SIZE OF THE PLANT! although shorter than both the species and one literally called P.j.`Giganteus', the leaves on this still get as high as 24-30". And the leaves also get as wide as 15" in diameter! Spectacular though with its cream yellow splashed variegated mini umbrella shaped foliage! Will take standing water. Moist areas, boggy, always wet. Don't come to me though if you see this growing out of your cement/stone drive where there's a crack or where a piece of tis root may have established itself. Forms dense patches from rhizomes. Shade,part-sahde is best. Full sun will burn the variegation in the leaves even if wet. Great stream plant, pond edger, shady ditch. zone6(5) "Butterbur"
